Can you imagine that boron can enhance free testosterone levels by up to 28.3%? When a sample of 18-29-year-olds was given 10mg of boron per day for one week – they experienced (on average) a 28.3% rise in free testosterone.

Similarly, when individuals were given 10mg of boron every day for four weeks, they showed an 11.4% increase in total testosterone. But how is this possible?

Boron Blocks SHBG

Boron has been observed to lower SHBG levels (sex hormone-binding globulin), which results in higher testosterone levels. The reduced SHBG allows more sex hormones to be ‘free’ and available in the bloodstream. This also helps with muscle growth and recovery and enhances strength.

Boron Blocks Estrogen

Researchers reported that taking 10mg of boron per day for four weeks led to an increased free testosterone level, alongside a 39% drop in estrogen. However, it’s important to note this is not sustainable over longer periods.

In a second four-week study, researchers saw an increase in estrogen levels. This implies that while boron can suppress estrogen and prevent ‘man boobs’ in the short term, it has the reverse effect in the long run.

As a result, it’s recommended to cycle boron for two weeks on and one week off to avoid estrogen levels rising.

Boron Increases Vitamin D

A recent study on 13 participants with low Vitamin D levels found that giving them 6mg of boron per day (from calcium fructoborate) for 60 days resulted in a 19.6% increase in Vitamin D levels, a 56% increase in DHEA, and a 29.5% increase in free testosterone.

With all these elements combined, it is possible to obtain a mineral capable of enhancing testosterone levels in a variety of healthy and natural ways.

Other Health Benefits of Boron

Boron helps to raise natural testosterone levels but it may also be used for other benefits. A small study of 20 people showed that 50% of them had improved symptoms of osteoporosis disease after taking 6mg of boron a day.

This has not been replicated anywhere else, but researchers think this is because all the participants were suffering from symptoms of osteoporosis and did not have normal health.

So boron does not work unless you are experiencing symptoms. On the other hand, boron will work behind the scenes to keep your bones and joints healthy. But it is not limited to this.

  • Boron helps to make stronger teeth and prevents tooth decay
  • It improves nutrient absorption to improve body functioning.
  • It aids in the development and maintenance of a healthy sex hormone balance.
  • It reduces inflammation associated with breast cancer, obesity, insulin resistance, lung cancer, heart disease, depression, and a variety of other illnesses.
  • It improves blood flow by metabolizing vitamins and minerals of a diet.
  • It speeds up wound healing.
  • It decreases oxidative stress.
  • It increases fibroblast activity.
  • It helps you get more out of Vitamin D.
  • It improves cognition performance.
  • It increases the biological half-life. This means that you’ll stay healthy longer.

Increase Boron Levels Naturally

Boron supplements are available for testosterone deficiency. However, there are other ways to increase the availability of this mineral in your body, including food.

Avocados are excellent boron sources. You can eat as many as five of them and still get enough boron to meet your daily requirement. Avocados aren’t your only option.

You may also try walnuts, apricots, raisins, beans, prunes, broccoli, almonds, chickpeas, brazil nuts, or bananas.

Recommended Boron Dosage for Testosterone

In addition to being beneficial for testosterone production, boron supplements should be taken in moderation. Excessive amounts can cause side effects, including constipation and indigestion.

Boron doses of less than 20mg per day are generally regarded as safe. Try starting with 3-10mg of Boron per day. If you’re suffering from low testosterone levels, increase the dose to 10mg per day. Do not use boron for more than two weeks for optimal testosterone results.

Taking excess boron can cause various side effects like vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea, and can also damage blood vessels. Do not consume more than 20mg of boron in a day. Boron is safer for short-term use but its efficacy drops over time.

Should you Include Boron Supplements in your Diet?

Boron is a prime example of a natural mineral that can help to boost testosterone production in many ways. Many use boron on its own. Others use it as part of a complex formulation. Complex formulations are thought to have a higher chance of success.

Boron may be natural, but limited use is recommended. For beginners, it can only be used for two weeks at a time. Abuse can trigger excessive estrogen, toxicity, and side effects.

However, when combined with other ingredients in a complex formulation, these extra compounds can provide your body with many ways to boost testosterone levels while keeping safe.

Supplements provide better control over your dosage, but there are also choices of taking simple boron supplements or more complex formulations. Complex formulations are safer bets because they’re purposely designed to optimize your testosterone while eliminating the risks of side effects.
